How It Works

When flying your dog to Cyprus, there are several important steps and requirements to consider. First, your dog must be microchipped, with the microchip number recorded on all veterinary documents. This must be done before any required vaccinations.

For entry into Cyprus, your dog needs an Animal Health Certificate issued by a Government approved veterinarian. This certificate must be obtained within a specific timeframe before travel – at least 48 hours and not more than 10 days prior to departure. Also, your dog must have a rabies vaccination administered when they are over 12 weeks old and at least 21 days before export.

A health certificate indicating your dog is fit to travel must be completed in the UK Passport between 1 and 5 days before export. Upon arrival in Cyprus, your dog may be subject to a veterinary inspection, which may incur additional fees.

Requirements differ for Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Dogs entering TRNC need an import permit and may face up to 30 days of quarantine. The rabies vaccination timing is more specific for TRNC, and a rabies blood test is required at least 30 days after vaccination. A DEFRA Export Health Certificate, signed by an official veterinarian, is also necessary for entry into TRNC.

It’s important to note that while dogs may face quarantine in Northern Cyprus, there is no quarantine requirement when flying to Southern Cyprus. These regulations ensure the safe and legal transport of your dog to Cyprus, whether you’re heading to the southern or northern part of the island.
