Pet Travel Armenia – Pet Transport to Armenia from UK
Taking your dog or cat to Armenia? Here’s what you need to know about getting them there.
We’re Fetchapet and we’ve been flying pets internationally for over 30 years. Armenia sits in the Caucasus region between Europe and Asia, and it’s part of the Eurasian Economic Union which means specific documentation requirements apply. Whether you’re heading to Yerevan or elsewhere in Armenia, we’ll handle the logistics.

Armenia’s Pet Import Rules
Your pet needs a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel but no more than 11 months before. The timing matters because vaccines given too recently or too long ago won’t be accepted.
A licensed veterinarian must complete a health certificate for Armenia within 5 days of your departure. This certificate confirms your pet is clinically healthy and vaccinated against rabies. The certificate gets signed and stamped by a government veterinarian in the UK.
Microchipping isn’t technically required for Armenia but we strongly recommend it. An ISO 11784 or 11785 compliant microchip ties your pet to their documentation and dramatically increases the chances of reuniting if you’re separated during travel. The microchip number should be recorded on all paperwork.
Dogs need additional vaccinations against canine distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus before import. Cats need vaccinations against feline viral rhinotracheitis, panleukopenia and feline leukemia.
No quarantine when your pet arrives in Armenia if these requirements are met. If documentation isn’t in order, your pet could face quarantine, return to the UK or worse.
Import Permits And Pet Limits
Traveling with one or two pets? No import permit needed when they’re accompanying you.
Bringing three or more pets? You’ll need an import permit arranged before travel. This also applies to commercial imports or pets traveling unaccompanied.
Flying Into Armenia
Pets entering Armenia by air must arrive at Zvartnots International Airport near Yerevan. Direct flights work best. If your route includes layovers, keep them short and preferably in countries with good rabies control.
Your pet travels in a crate we build to their specific measurements in our workshops. IATA compliant sizing means your dog or cat can stand, turn around and lie down comfortably during the flight.
If your flight routes through an EU country, additional EU transit requirements apply. Plan your route carefully to avoid complications.
Planning Your Return To The UK
Armenia is classified as a high rabies risk country by the EU and UK. This affects your return journey.
To bring your pet back to the UK from Armenia, you’ll need a rabies antibody titer test done at least 3 months before returning. Without this test and the proper wait time, your pet faces quarantine or may be refused entry.
Get the titer test done before leaving the UK if you’re only in Armenia temporarily. This saves hassle and ensures you can return home smoothly.
Why People Move To Armenia
Armenia attracts expats for its low cost of living, rich history and growing tech industry. Yerevan is the main hub with a developing startup scene and international community.
The country offers mountain landscapes, ancient monasteries and a climate with hot summers and cold winters. Outdoor space exists but Yerevan is an urban environment. Think about whether your pet adapts well to city life and temperature extremes.
