pet export to new zealand

Relocating to the Land of the Long White Cloud? Fetchapet specialises in pet exports to New Zealand. We will fly your cat or dog to this location in a safe, secure pet travel crate that is fully compliant with IATA regulations.

We’re proud to offer a fully tailored pet export service to New Zealand for cat and dog owners.

Prior to the trip, we can collect your pets from a location anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. If you’re local to us, you can drop them off at our premises, or one of our team can meet you at Heathrow airport to prepare your furry friend for their onward journey.

What to Expect When Sending your Dog or Cat to New Zealand

We handle every aspect of sending a pet from the UK to New Zealand. We’ll manage your pets’ airline reservations (which are normally made with trusted airlines Emirates or Qatar Airways) and we will guide you through the completion of all the necessary pre-export documentation.

We can provide recommendations of quarantine establishments and offer assistance with checking documents and details prior to submitting the import permit application.

Pre-shipment boarding is available for dogs and cats for long or short periods or we are happy to liaise with you, your pet carer or relative and your own veterinary surgery to ensure the protocols for dogs and cats to be admitted to New Zealand are adhered to. Please note it currently takes at least 6 months to prepare pets for travel to New Zealand, so please factor this timeframe into your own travel plans.

Pet dogs and cats must be microchipped and have the microchip number recorded on all veterinary certificates. Microchipping must be undertaken before the required vaccinations or treatments are given to enable the Official Veterinarian (OV) or Local Veterinary Inspector (LVI) Veterinary Surgeon of DEFRA to identify the animal when completing any paperwork.

Pre-shipment veterinary work by our own Veterinary Surgeons is also available prior to your pet export to New Zealand. This involves blood tests, parasite treatments and the issue of the DEFRA Export Health Certification. If you prefer to use your usual Veterinary Surgery, we will guide both you and your Vet through each step as necessary to ensure total compliance with the current regulations.

We offer clear guidance and as much support as needed for our clients on what tests and treatments must be done and when to do it in order to prepare pets for shipment to New Zealand.

IATA compliant air travel kennels are manufactured in our own workshops and each kennel is tailor made to suit your pet’s measurements, ensuring they are both safe and comfortable when in the air.

If you want to discuss your New Zealand pet export requirements in more detail, why not drop into our premises and meet our staff? You can always join us for a relaxed dog walk around the local area, or just pop in for a cuppa and we’ll talk you through your options. Be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page, too, for up to date news from Fetchapet and new travelling pet tales.
