Taking Cats To Bermuda » Fly Your Cat to Bermuda from UK

Taking your cat to Bermuda? You’re in luck.

Bermuda is one of the friendliest destinations for cat travel. No mandatory vaccinations. No quarantine. Just straightforward paperwork and a direct flight from the UK. It’s as close to simple as international pet transport gets.

We’ve been flying cats to Bermuda for three decades. We know the route, we know the rules, and we know how to keep cats calm during the journey. Ring us on 01206 330332 when you’re ready to sort the details.

How Your Cat Gets to Bermuda

British Airways runs direct flights from Gatwick to Bermuda, which keeps the journey short and stress levels low. The cargo hold is air conditioned and kept quiet for pet comfort.

We build every travel crate ourselves in our workshop. They’re made from high quality plywood on a strong wooden frame with welded wire mesh panels for proper airflow and security. Each crate gets a water container with an external funnel fitted, allowing airline staff to refill water mid flight without opening the door.

Size matters. Your cat needs enough space to stand, turn around and stretch out, but not so much that they slide around during turbulence. We take precise measurements and build to fit.

Inside goes veterinary grade bedding that’s super absorbent, non allergenic and machine washable. Nervous cats often burrow underneath it to feel hidden and safe, which helps them settle during the flight.

We also supply IATA approved plastic vari kennels in several sizes if your cat travels better in enclosed spaces. We’ll recommend the best option based on your cat’s size, breed and temperament.

Before You Book

Let’s be upfront. We don’t ship cats destined for resale or pet shops. Your cat’s microchip has to be registered in your name, matching the booking details exactly. We help families relocate their pets, nothing else.

What Your Cat Needs Before Flying

Bermuda keeps things refreshingly simple compared to most destinations.

Your cat must be microchipped with an ISO standard microchip. The microchip number gets recorded on all veterinary certificates for identification throughout the process.

Here’s what makes Bermuda wonderful: there are no compulsory vaccinations for cats entering from the UK. However, we strongly recommend keeping your cat up to date with routine vaccines. Your cat is entering a completely new environment, and having disease protection during travel and on arrival just makes good sense.

cat traveling to Bermuda

Your cat needs treatment for external parasites (fleas and ticks) before travel. We can arrange this through our own DEFRA Official Veterinarians, or we’ll work with your usual vet to get everything done properly.

A few days before travel, a DEFRA Official Veterinarian or Local Veterinary Inspector examines your cat and issues an Export Health Certificate confirming they’re fit to travel. Cats usually fly to Bermuda two days after this certificate is issued.

Once the Export Health Certificate is completed, you need an import permit from the Bermuda Department of Environmental Protection. We typically obtain this on your behalf and add it to your shipping documents.

Prefer to handle paperwork yourself? We’ll check your documents and details before you submit the import permit application, and we’ll give you clear guidance on what needs doing and when.

Yes, Kittens Can Go Too

We’re happy to send kittens to Bermuda as long as they’re over 10 weeks old when they fly. While vaccinations aren’t compulsory, we strongly recommend kittens have at least their first vaccinations before travel. They’re going into a new environment, and some disease protection during the journey and on arrival is sensible.

When You Land in Bermuda

Your cat arrives in Bermuda and goes through the standard arrival process. The best news? No quarantine. As long as the paperwork is in order, your cat is released to you straightaway.

Working With Us

We can handle the entire process if you want. Flight booking, crate building, paperwork, vet coordination, everything. Or you might prefer to manage certain aspects yourself and just need our help with specific bits. Either way works.

We’ll collect your cat from anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. Or you can bring them to us in Colchester. Or we can meet you at Heathrow airport.

If your cat needs accommodation before the flight, we work with excellent catteries in Colchester for short or long stays. We also partner with Rayvonley in Wisbech for longer term boarding. Our staff have access to these facilities to ensure all veterinary procedures are done correctly before travel.

Pre shipment veterinary work can be done by our own DEFRA Official Veterinarians, including Export Health Certification and parasite treatment. Or we’ll work with your usual vet to make sure all documents are completed correctly.

Reach us on 01206 330332 or info@fetchapet.co.uk. We’re open 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, though we often reply to emails outside those hours.
