Taking Dogs To Bermuda » Fly Your Dog to Bermuda from UK
Bermuda’s calling, and your dog’s invited.
Here’s the thing about Bermuda: it’s one of the easier destinations to get your dog to. No compulsory vaccinations, no quarantine, relatively straightforward paperwork. It’s about as hassle free as international pet travel gets.
We’ve been doing this run for 30 years, and we know exactly what needs to happen to get your dog there safely. If you want to talk through the details, ring us on 01206 330332.

The 30 Day Pre Export Isolation
British Airways flies direct from Gatwick to Bermuda, which makes the journey simpler and less stressful for your dog. The cargo hold is air conditioned and quiet, designed specifically with pet comfort in mind.
Your dog travels in a custom built IATA compliant crate that we make ourselves in our Colchester workshop. Each one is built from high quality plywood on a strong wooden frame with welded wire mesh panels for ventilation and security. We fit a water container with an external funnel so airline staff can refill it during the journey without opening the door and disturbing your dog.
The crate is sized precisely to your dog’s measurements. They need enough room to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably, but not so much space that they get thrown around during turbulence. We measure carefully and build accordingly.
Inside goes veterinary grade bedding that’s super absorbent, non allergenic and machine washable. It keeps your dog dry and comfortable throughout the flight.
What You Need to Know Before Booking
We don’t ship dogs destined for resale or pet shops. Your dog’s microchip must be registered in your name, matching the booking details. We’re here to help families relocate, not to facilitate trade.
Some dog breeds require a restricted breeds import permit for Bermuda. This means your property in Bermuda must be inspected and approved by the Bermuda Department of Environmental Protection before an import permit gets granted. If your dog falls into this category, we’ll guide you through the process.
Preparing Your Dog for Bermuda
The good news is that Bermuda has relatively simple entry requirements compared to most destinations.
Your dog must be microchipped with an ISO standard microchip. The microchip number gets recorded on all veterinary certificates to identify your dog throughout the process.
There are no compulsory vaccinations for dogs entering Bermuda from the UK. However, we strongly recommend keeping your dog up to date with routine vaccines because they’re entering a completely new environment. Having disease protection during travel and on arrival just makes sense.
Your dog needs treating for external parasites (fleas and ticks) before travel. We can arrange this with our own DEFRA Official Veterinarians, or we can work with your usual vet to make sure everything’s done correctly.
Within a few days before travel, a DEFRA Official Veterinarian or Local Veterinary Inspector must examine your dog and issue an Export Health Certificate. This confirms your dog is fit to travel. Dogs usually fly to Bermuda two days after this certificate is issued.
Once the Export Health Certificate is completed, you’ll need an import permit from the Bermuda Department of Environmental Protection. We usually obtain this on your behalf and add it to your shipping documents.
If you’d rather handle the paperwork yourself, we can check your documents and details before you submit the import permit application. We’ll give you clear guidance on what needs doing and when.

Puppies Can Travel Too
We’re happy to send puppies to Bermuda as long as they’re over 10 weeks old at the time of shipment. While there are no compulsory vaccinations, we strongly recommend puppies have at least the first part of their normal vaccinations before travel. They’re entering a new environment, and having some disease protection during the journey and on arrival is sensible.
What Happens When You Arrive
Your dog arrives in Bermuda and goes through the standard arrival process. The best bit? There’s no quarantine period. As long as all the paperwork is in order, your dog is released to you.
The Cost
Flying a dog from the UK to Bermuda costs between £1,400 and £6,500, depending on your dog’s breed, size and weight. The wide range reflects the variety of dog sizes we transport, from small terriers to giant breeds.

How Fetchapet Can Help
We can manage every aspect of the journey for you. Flight booking, crate building, paperwork, vet coordination, the works. Or if you prefer to handle certain parts yourself and just need support with specific bits, that’s fine too.
We’ll collect your dog from anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. Or you can bring them to our premises in Colchester. Or we can meet you at Heathrow airport.
If your dog needs somewhere to stay before the flight, we work with excellent local kennels in Colchester for short or long stays. We also partner with Rayvonley kennels in Wisbech for longer term boarding needs, which is particularly suitable for high energy dogs who need lots of space and exercise, and for large or giant breeds. Our staff have access to these facilities to ensure all veterinary procedures are done correctly before travel.
Pre shipment veterinary work can be done by our own DEFRA Official Veterinarians, including Export Health Certification and parasite treatment. Or we can work with your usual vet to make sure all documents are completed correctly.
Reach us on 01206 330332 or info@fetchapet.co.uk. Office hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, though we often reply to emails outside those times.
