Flying Dogs To Bahrain From The UK
Your dog will travel in a secure, IATA compliant crate with plenty of space to stand, turn around and lie down. We manufacture all our travel crates right here in our own workshops, and each one is custom built to suit your dog’s measurements. This means your dog gets maximum safety and comfort during the journey.
We can collect your dog from your home or breeder’s address anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. If you’d prefer, you can deliver to our premises or we can meet you at Heathrow airport. Whatever works best for you.
What You’ll Need To Prepare
To meet Bahrain’s import rules, your dog must:

- Have a microchip fitted before any vaccinations are given. The microchip number needs to be recorded on all the veterinary certificates.
- Have a current rabies vaccination, with the most recent vaccination given at least 30 days and no more than 6 months before the date of travel.
- Be vaccinated against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis and Parvovirus (DHLP) at least 30 days but not more than 6 months before departure.
- Have an Import Permit from the Kingdom of Bahrain. If you’re shipping through Fetchapet, we can help you get this sorted through our agents in Bahrain.
- Be checked by a DEFRA Official Veterinarian within 48 hours of travel for an Export Health Certificate. This confirms your dog is healthy and fit to fly. Most veterinary practices have at least one Official Veterinarian who can issue this certificate, and we can advise if your usual vet is unsure.
About Our Travel Crates
We build our wooden crates from quality plywood with a solid frame. There’s wire mesh on the back and in the door window for ventilation, and the door has three separate fastenings so there’s no chance of it popping open mid flight.
Each crate comes with a water container inside and a funnel fitted on the outside. This means airline staff can top up your dog’s water without having to open the door and stress them out during the journey. We also include proper veterinary bedding that’s cut to fit perfectly. The clever thing about vet bedding is that any liquid drains straight through, so your dog stays dry and comfortable even on a long flight.
These crates are built to last as well. You can use them multiple times, or keep yours afterwards as a garden kennel or travel crate for future trips. If you’d rather go with plastic, we’ve got IATA approved plastic crates in seven different sizes too.
We’re Here To Help

That’s why every dog we fly is treated with the same care and attention we’d want for our very own, highly loved pets. Whether you need help with paperwork, choosing the right crate or arranging transport from your home to the airport, we’ll handle it all.
If you have any questions or just want to talk to someone who’s done this hundreds of times before, give us a call on 01206 330332 or email info@fetchapet.co.uk. We’re available Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, and will usually reply to emails outside these hours too.
FAQs About Flying Dogs To Bahrain
Your dog needs to have had the rabies jab at least 30 days before travel, but it can’t be older than 6 months. So there’s a sweet spot there where the vaccination is valid. Make sure your vet records the microchip number on the vaccination certificate as well, otherwise you might run into problems later on.
Yes, you absolutely can. Many of our clients choose to fly on the same flight as their dogs, and we can help coordinate all the arrangements to make that happen. Just let us know when you’re booking and we’ll sort it out for you.
We’ll need four measurements from your dog. That’s the length from nose to base of tail, height from ground to elbow, width across the shoulders and height from floor to top of head (or tip of ears if they’re pricked). Don’t add extra inches yourself because a crate that’s too big can actually be dangerous if the plane hits turbulence. We’ll add on the right amount to make sure your dog is safe and comfortable. Just send us your dog’s measurements and we’ll build the perfect sized crate.
