We can pick your dog up from anywhere in England, Scotland or Wales. Or if you’d rather meet us at Heathrow or drop your dog off at our premises, that works too.
Flying Dogs To Oman From The UK
Getting your dog to Oman needs proper planning because of the timelines involved. Unlike some countries where you can sort things relatively quickly, Oman requires at least four months of preparation because of their titre test requirement.

Your dog needs to be microchipped first before anything else happens. That chip number goes on every single piece of paperwork so it all matches up. Make sure the microchipping is done before any vaccinations because when your vet fills out forms, they need to be able to identify your dog properly.
Your dog has to be at least four months old to fly to Oman. No exceptions on that one, it’s a requirement from Oman’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
The rabies vaccination needs to be done at least 30 days before you travel but it can’t be older than 11 months. Here’s where it gets a bit more involved. About 30 days after that rabies jab, your dog needs a blood titre test. This is basically a blood test that checks whether the rabies vaccination actually worked and your dog’s got enough antibodies. Your vet takes a blood sample and sends it off to an approved laboratory.
The test results need to come back positive, and here’s the important bit: that test has to be done at least three months before your travel date but less than 12 months before. So if you’re working backwards from when you want to fly, you need the rabies jab at least four months out, maybe more to be safe.
Your dog also needs vaccinations for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus. Your vet will know this as the DHLP vaccination. This needs to be done at least 30 days before flying but not more than 11 months before.
Oman requires an Import Permit from their Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Muscat. We can help you get this sorted through our agents in Oman so you’re not trying to navigate it on your own.
Then within 48 hours of the actual flight, your dog has to see an Official Veterinarian who’ll complete a DEFRA Export Health Certificate. They’re checking your dog over to make sure they’re healthy, fit to fly and everything’s in order with the vaccinations. Most vet practices have at least one Official Veterinarian on staff.
We’ll build a custom travel crate specifically for your dog. We make them ourselves in our own workshops so we can get the measurements exactly right. Your dog needs enough room to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably.
The good news is that once you’ve got all this sorted and your dog arrives in Muscat, there’s no quarantine period. Your dog can come straight home with you as long as all the paperwork checks out.
Dog Export To Oman Timeline
The timeline for Oman is longer than a lot of other destinations because of that three month waiting period after the titre test. You can’t speed it up or skip steps, it just takes the time it takes.
What catches most people out is not starting early enough. They think a month will do it because that’s how long the UAE takes, then they realise Oman needs four times that. If you’ve got a firm moving date for work or whatever, get in touch with us as soon as you know. We can make sure everything happens in the right order so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
The good bit is that during those three months of waiting, we’re not just sitting around doing nothing. We’re getting your Import Permit sorted through our Oman contacts and building your dog’s travel crate to the right size.
So by the time the waiting period is done, everything else is ready to go.

FAQs About Flying Dogs To Oman
A titre test is a blood test that checks if your dog’s rabies vaccination worked properly. Your vet takes a blood sample about 30 days after the rabies jab and sends it to a lab to measure the rabies antibodies in your dog’s blood. Oman requires this test to be done at least three months but less than 12 months before travel and the results need to be positive. The test itself is quick but you need to wait three months after it’s done before you can fly.
You need to start planning at least four months in advance to fly your dog to Oman. The reason you need at least four months is because your dog needs a rabies vaccination first, then 30 days later they have the titre test done, and then you have to wait three months after that titre test before you’re allowed to fly. The titre test itself is quick (it’s just a blood sample) but Oman requires that three month waiting period after the test is done. Starting early gives you buffer time in case anything needs redoing.
If your dog’s titre test fails or the antibodies aren’t high enough, your dog needs to be revaccinated for rabies and then have another titre test done 30 days after that new vaccination. You then have to wait another three months after the second test before you can fly to Oman. This essentially resets your timeline which is why we recommend starting the process as early as possible.
No, there is no quarantine period when flying dogs to Oman. As long as all the vaccination requirements and paperwork are in order, your dog can come straight home with you when you arrive in Muscat. That’s one less thing to worry about after a long journey.
