Flying Cats To Thailand From The UK

Most of our feline travellers fly with Thai Airways, one of the most reliable airlines for pet transport. Their teams are experienced in animal handling and take time to make sure each cat is settled before departure.

Your cat will travel in a Fetchapet IATA compliant travel crate, built from high quality plywood on a strong wooden frame with welded wire mesh panels for security and ventilation. Each crate is fitted with a water container and external funnel, allowing attendants to top up fluids without opening the door. This is so your cat can stay hydrated safely throughout the journey.

Inside, we use veterinary grade bedding cut precisely to fit your cat’s crate. This bedding is super absorbent, non allergenic, and machine washable, designed to keep your cat dry and comfortable during the flight. Its softness usually helps cats feel secure, and some nervous travellers even like to snuggle underneath it to feel hidden!

Because cats tend to be more sensitive travellers, we make sure every stage, from check-in to collection in Thailand, is handled with care and precision. Our team monitors every detail to ensure your cat’s journey is safe, smooth and stress free.

If you’d like to fly on the same plane as your cat, that’s often possible too. We’ll coordinate your flights so you and your cat arrive together without any unnecessary waiting or worry.

Preparing Your Cat for Travel

Getting your cat ready to travel to Thailand might sound complicated, but don’t worry, we’ll walk you through each step and guide you and your vet to make sure everything is done properly.

Your cat must be microchipped before any vaccinations are given, as this is how your pet’s identity is officially recorded for travel. After that, your cat will need a rabies vaccination at least 21 days before flying, and the vaccination must have been given within the last 12 months before travel.

Cats also need to be fully vaccinated against Cat Flu and Feline Enteritis (RCP) at least 21 days before departure and within a year of travel. These are standard requirements for cats entering Thailand.

You’ll also need an Import Permit issued by the Thai authorities, which we can help arrange. Within 72 hours of your flight, a DEFRA Official Veterinarian (OV) must examine your cat and issue an Export Health Certificate confirming that they’re healthy, fit to fly, and free from infectious or contagious diseases. We’ll help you understand exactly what your vet needs to do and when to do it, so everything is timed and completed correctly.

Before travel, we’ll also help you measure your cat to make sure their travel crate meets IATA Live Animal Regulations (LAR). The crate must allow your cat to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably. Oversized crates can actually be unsafe during turbulence, so we’ll calculate the right fit and, if needed, build a bespoke crate to your cat’s measurements.

We’ll also give you advice on what to expect when you arrive in Thailand. By the time they travel, every detail: from the paperwork to the travel arrangements, will be sorted, so you and your purry cat can both look forward to a smooth and stress free journey.
