Flying Dogs to Singapore From the UK

One of the best things about flying your dog to Singapore is that there are two excellent airlines offering direct flights: British Airways and Singapore Airlines. Both have air conditioned, quiet cargo holds designed to keep pets as calm and comfortable as possible during the journey.

IATA Approved Travel Crates

Your dog will travel in a Fetchapet IATA compliant travel crate, custom built to your dog’s measurements. We make these crates ourselves in our own workshop using high quality plywood on a strong wooden frame with welded wire mesh panels for security and ventilation. Each crate is fitted with a water container and external funnel so attendants can top up fluids without opening the door, keeping your dog safely hydrated throughout the flight.

The crate will give your dog enough room to stand, turn around and lie down comfortably. This is important because oversized crates can actually be dangerous during turbulence, while crates that are too small are uncomfortable and stressful. We’ll calculate the perfect fit for your dog’s size and build.

Inside, we use veterinary grade bedding that’s super absorbent, non allergenic and machine washable. It’s designed to keep your dog dry and comfortable, and the softness helps nervous travellers feel more secure during the flight.

If your dog is a snub nosed breed like a Bulldog, Pug or Pekingese, it’s worth knowing that British Airways won’t carry these breeds. However, Singapore Airlines may be able to help. Breeds with flatter faces such as Bullmastiffs, Boxers, Boston Terriers and Shih Tzus need to travel in a crate that’s 10% larger than normal to increase ventilation, which we factor into our crate design.

Important Information Before You Book

We want to be clear from the start: we don’t ship dogs or puppies that are destined for resale or for pet shop stock. Your dog’s microchip must be registered in your name as the owner, matching the details provided for the flight booking. We’re here to help families relocate their beloved pets, not to facilitate commercial trade.

What Your Dog Needs Before Flying to Singapore

Getting your dog ready to travel to Singapore involves several steps, but don’t worry, we’ll guide you through every one of them and make sure everything is done properly and on time.

First, your dog must be microchipped with an ISO standard microchip. This is how your dog’s identity is officially recorded for travel, and the microchip must be registered in your name as the owner.

Your dog needs to have lived in the UK for at least six months before flying to Singapore, or since birth if they’re younger than six months. The only exception is if your dog has come directly from Singapore and is now returning. Dogs must also be at least 12 weeks old to enter Singapore.

Vaccinations are essential. Your dog must be vaccinated against Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis and Canine Parvovirus at least 14 days before travel, and the vaccination must have been given within the last 12 months. If your dog is a puppy under 16 weeks old at the time of travel, they’ll need two initial vaccinations given 2 to 4 weeks apart, and they can fly to Singapore two weeks after receiving their second vaccination.

You’ll also need an Import Permit to bring your dog into Singapore. We can help arrange this for you.

Within 2 to 7 days of your dog’s flight, they’ll need to be treated against internal parasites using a licensed product such as Milbemax or Drontal, and against ticks and fleas with a licensed product such as Advantix or Frontline. Your vet will need to record these treatments.

Finally, within seven days of travel, a DEFRA Official Veterinarian (OV) must examine your dog and complete a Veterinary Certificate of Health. This certifies that your dog is free from signs of infectious or contagious diseases and is fit to fly. Pet passports aren’t required for entry into Singapore.

We’ll walk you through each of these steps and help you understand exactly what your vet needs to do and when. By the time your dog travels, every detail will be sorted so you can both look forward to a smooth journey.

Arriving in Singapore

When your dog lands in Singapore, the whole process is designed to be quick and stress free. If your dog flies with Singapore Airlines, they’ll be transferred to the Changi Animal & Plant Quarantine facility (CAPQ) by the ground handling agents.

Once your dog arrives at CAPQ during operational hours, they’ll be taken out of their crate and walked. Dogs are given food and water before the AVS officers inspect them, and then they’re allocated air conditioned kennels until the clearance is completed. The whole process usually takes around 2 to 3 hours from landing to collection, and the good news is there’s no quarantine period for dogs entering Singapore as long as all the requirements have been met.
